Compass was established in 2003 by a group of DC-based alumni from Harvard Business School,
the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Wharton School, and Dartmouth’s Tuck School
of Business. Compass is modeled after several successful programs in DC and other cities,
such as the Harvard Business School Community Service Initiative (CSI) and Stanford’s Alumni
Consulting Teams (ACT). Through these programs, MBA alumni have served dozens of diverse
non-profit organizations in many different areas, including strategic planning, financial
management strategy, market research and organizational development.
The Compass mission is to
- Provide pro-bono business consulting to non-profit organizations in the Greater DC community
-
Provide graduates from allied business schools with opportunities to integrate
their professional education and experience with their interest in serving the local
community
- Foster a spirit of volunteerism and generosity throughout the region’s business community
Compass operates in close partnership with Greater DC Cares (www.dc-cares.org)
to deliver quality results to both non-profits and volunteers.
