We are delighted that you are considering joining our efforts to make Greater DC a better community in which to live. The efforts
of our volunteer consulting teams have greatly benefited many area nonprofits, and we hope you will lend your skills and expertise
as we pursue our mission of providing high quality advice to deserving organizations.
We believe that COMPASS offers volunteers a unique opportunity to apply their special skills for maximum benefit to the organization.
While our nonprofit clients certainly benefit from the advice we provide, our volunteers find the experience to be very valuable as well.
Joining a COMPASS team gives volunteers an opportunity to meet fellow alumni and work together toward a common cause. The issues we address
are high impact, the projects are interesting, and the opportunity to interact with committed leaders in the nonprofit community is very rewarding.
Volunteer applications for 2008-2009 will be available in September 2008
Before you volunteer, here are some things you should know:
Most projects follow a program cycle. Volunteers are added to teams to support the selected projects.
- Each project is led by a Project Leader and is comprised of a team of volunteers.
- Project Leaders apply in late summer and are selected in early fall.
- Project Leaders begin working with the nonprofit leaders to define the scope of the project in late fall.
- The Volunteer application is available in mid-September.
- Teams are formed in October.
- A signed engagement letter defines the agreed-upon scope prior to start-up.
- Teams begin working on the project in November and complete the work by June.
- Projects are scoped so that each team member can expect to contribute approximately 2 to 5 hours per week.
COMPASS welcomes alumni with all levels of experience and interests.
