“One of the biggest challenges in life, as we progress through our careers, is to shift our mindset from a
focus on "success" (i.e., how can I progress and become more wealthy/powerful) to a focus on "significance"
(i.e., where can I have a lasting impact?). Leading a Compass team for a non-profit who could never afford our
skills is a great way to "give something back" and become significant.”
--Bud Moeller, 2004-2006 Project Leader
“Working with a diverse group of highly motivated folks to help others. That simple. At times I was a leader;
other times a teacher; other times a motivator; and yet others a friend as we got to know each other, hang out,
do the Servathon together, and drive our project to completion. I've made some good friends in this team who
I will continue to spend time with after the project ends.”
--Fabian Rosado, 2004-2006 Project Leader
“What I liked best about about being a team leader was working with and learning from such a talented group of
volunteers with diverse interests and backgrounds who brought such a wealth of knowledge to the process. Their
commitment of time and interest to the project is outstanding.”
--Lisa Benjamin, 2004-2006 Project Leader
“As with any new project, before I met my COMPASS group for the first time, I wasn't sure what to expect. My
anxiety was quickly appeased after realizing the breadth, depth and general skills and knowledge our team possessed.
Over the course of four months, our appreciative client consistently expressed their gratitude for our work, noting
how our efforts would improve the lives of Hispanics, helping them to realize their dreams. The ability to see the
direct impact of our efforts on the lives of our clients proved a real motivator and inspiration. Not only was I
able to truly enjoy the personal fulfillment of this client experience, I was also able to learn from the expertise
and best practices from other professionals and, apply these newfound skills to my clients. Thank you COMPASS for
providing such a rewarding experience!”
